ÂYAH -  آية

Creation. The clear proof that no one can deny. The clear sign. Mark. A wonder, a miracle.

As an Islamic Term: The smallest unit of the Qur’an.

An âyah is a sign that evidently indicates and proves the existence, oneness and attributes of Allah; hence, âyah refers to all beings in the universe, each phrase of the Qur’an and the events that cause the ma’nawî awakening and revival of man. Just as the smallest units of the Qur’an are âyahs arising from Allah’s attribute of Kalâm, so the beings in the universe are âyahs created by Allah’s attribute of Qoudrah.
