KAFFÂRAH ADH-DHUNÛB - كفّارة للذنوب
Kaffârah: Atonement for sin.
In fiqh: Giving sadaqa or holding sawm in the proper way to the Sharî’ah with the hope of forgiveness from a sin.
Dhunûb: The plural of dhenb, which means sin.
Kaffârah adh-dhunûb: Atonement for sins. Also used for the calamities and the illnesses which afflict mu’mins. Because they can be the means of forgiveness for them.
