SHARIK - شريك

Literally: Sharik (plural shurakâ) is a partner or associate.

Shirk is to attribute partners to Allah (‘Azza wa jalla). A person who attributes a partner to Allah is called a mushrik, and the thing that is attributed to is called a sharik.
