KHAYR – خَيْر
Literally: Good, better, best, beneficial, meritorious.
As an Islamic Term: It expresses any kind of good deed and thought informed by the Shari’ah. Rewarding deeds with nûr. Ni’mahs like intellect, knowledge, ‘ibâdah, justice, beneficence, taqwâ, tawakkul, shukr, patience and property that will be the cause of gaining the pleasure and acceptance of Allah and the source of happiness in the âkhirah. Khayr is the opposite of sharr.
