NÛR – نور
Literally: Luminous, light, the opposite of any kind of darkness. The source and centre of light. The light, the flame that defeats the darkness.
Al-Qur’an Al-Hakîm. Îmân. Islam. The Prophet. Knowing haqq at the degree of certainty (yaqîn). Ma’rifat. Haqiqah. The proofs of îmân.
Nûr is of two sorts: One is worldly, and the other is related to the âkhirah.
The first is the nûr of objects that can be perceived by sight, like the sun, moon and stars.
The second is the nûr that dispersed from the nûr of Allah, like the mind and the nûr of the Qur’an.
